EBA&D seeks an accomplished engineer for the position of Tooling Design Engineer Temporary (not to exceed 6 months) , reporting to the Value Stream Manager.  The position is located in Simsbury, CT.   

The Tooling Design Engineer has responsibility for conception and creation of new tools designs, fixtures, machines and gages for EBA&D, supporting project teams as a technical expert with an understanding of the manufacturing requirements of our products. 

 Tooling designers start with a set of product design parameters, and in collaboration with Manufacturing Engineers, Operators and Project Engineers conceive how these parameters can be turned into a functional tool, layout the design, perform supporting technical calculations, and support the generation of detailed tooling drawings.

  • Develop 3D tooling/fixture models to meet program requirements
  • Select material specification to meet  design and usage requirements
  • Generate 2D drawings for complete tool/fixture definition.
  • Familiar with manufacturing methods, poka-yoke, SMED, ergonomics, etc.
  • Coordinates analyses with Analytical Engineers
  • Support project and operations teams
  • Support existing products and product upgrades
  • Participate in failure analysis activities
  • Performs design trade studies and hand calculations
  • Perform tolerance studies
  • Support bid and proposal activities.


 The successful candidate must have a BS/MS in an engineering discipline and a minimum of 5 years of tooling design of aerospace and defense products.  

Required experience includes:

  • Demonstrated experience generating 3D models & 2D drawings.
  • Basic understanding of methods used to analyze tool performance
  • Understands requirements in customer and military specifications and how they apply to design
  • Understands GD&T and how it effects part cost
  • Understanding of ASME Y14.100-2004 and ASME Y14.5M-1994
  • Strong communication skills for interaction with various functions responsible for program.
  • Proficient with Microsoft office suite software.
  • Experience with SolidWorks
